Pay For Public Servants
A question for the astute reader:
How much should public servants be paid? This includes elected officials, appointed officials, bureaucrats, police officers, rangers, etc.?
Of course there is no one number that is the answer for every position. But there are important things to consider. If the pay is too low, public servants will be much likelier to take bribes to supplement their small paychecks; they'll be less likely to risk getting fired if they get a nice, comfortable wage. But if paid too much, the positions will attract people just interested in the money, rather than in the position itself.
